What 5 Questions shall we ask to every candidate in a job hiring process
Hiring a candidate for your business could be a challenging process and hectic too. But, with some clear, productive questions we can finalize hiring process in short time and getting a perfect candidate for the vacancy.
Here is the list of 5 questions to get a holistic idea of candidates. Each question carries a score of 20 points and total scores ranges from 1-100 points. The perfect candidate must get more than equal to 75 scores at the end of the question session.
Question 1A: Why are you here?
This questions tells us the real reason candidate has applied for the job. And how much clearly candidate knows about the vacancy applied.
Question 1B: What have you brought to the table?
This question tells us about skills, knowledge and competency of the candidates.
Question 1C: What do you expect from us?
This question gives a hint about expectations of candidates from the employer.
Question 2: What is the meaning of business?
A person who understands the real meaning of business is the person who can support the business to grow, make profits. Without profit, no business can pay back to their employees.
Question 3A: In your teenage life/Highschool life, did anyone come too seek help from you OR you seek to help others?
This question shows how much friendly, helpful the candidate is. A friendly and helpful member of the business would teach other employees, guide them and solve the problems.
Question 3B: In your teenage life/Highschool life, did anyone put any pressure on you to do something undesirable thing in your life?
This question shows how much candidate supports freedom, choices, being independent in decision making, protects others from undesirable pressure in the workplace. we are looking for a candidate who makes decision irrespective of pressure from from others and and supports other team members, if anyone exhibit undesirable pressure on them.
Question 4: In your life or society, what do you like or dislike very much?
This question would tell us about deep love,, like and hate that exists in the candidates. Example – For a primary school teacher hiring, a person who dislikes drawing and being funny might not be an idle candidate.
Question 5A: When was the last time you spoke with your parents constructively?
This questions tells us how constructively candidate share his/her ideas with others and how much he/she cares about relations; even in workplace.
Question 5B: A scenario – “If, you are assigned to a project by your boss and you have to finish it in 3 weeks. But, 2 weeks have already passed and you have not come up with any idea to finish it. Then, one of the janitor gives you a suggestion/advice, with which you could finish your project in next 3-4 days and could present it to your boss afterwards.” HOW WILL YOU PRESENT YOUR WORK to your boss?
This question shows how much honest the candidate is. An honest candidate would surely include the input given by the janitor in finishing the project and provide enough credit for it. This honesty would be fruitful in the business too.
Question 5C: Where do you see yourself in 1 month, 3 months, 3 years and 5 years?
This question shows how planned the candidate is and what are the life goals of that candidate.
In Addition to these most important questions, the interviewer can ask some additional questions about work experience, previous employer, some specific questions related to the job post etc.
How to identify whether someone is lying or not while answering these questions, observe for these signs in candidates while interviewing…
a. The person would think before answering the questions. Pause before answering questions means the brain has to work to create false information and process it in order to say it out. If, the person is honest, there should not be any delay in answering what you have in your mind.
b. There would be visible stress in the forehead. In the lying process, muscles in the forehead would be under stress.
c. No eye contact. Those who lie would not be bale to speak by looking into your eyes. They would try to answer by looking somewhere else.
d. Believe your own guts. An honest person’s gut would not lie to identify the perfect candidate.
