Four Pillars of life (Part 3): The Power of Strength

Published by Nitin Bhatt on

3. Strength –

Strength is a crucial pillar that supports every aspect of life. It comes in three main forms: mental, physical, and economic. Each one is interconnected, and together they shape how resilient, capable, and resourceful we are.

A. Mental Strength

Mental strength is about staying calm, focused, and composed, even under pressure. It measures your tolerance, your ability to manage negative emotions, and your skill in facing challenges without losing control.

A strong mind leads to a strong body.

Benefits of mental strength:

  • Helps you focus on solving real problems rather than panicking or feeling overwhelmed.
  • Enables you to support others by offering thoughtful solutions.
  • Prevents the display of destructive emotions during stressful situations.
  • Encourages you to stand up against discrimination, inequality, and bias.
  • Keeps you aligned with your goals, aware of your strengths and weaknesses, and open to creative thinking.
A strong mind leads to a strong body.

How to build it:
Meditation is a powerful tool. Starting it at an early age—when the mind is at its purest—can help you gain control over your thoughts, regulate emotions, and develop a positive outlook. Science, especially the study of neuroplasticity, supports how meditation reshapes and strengthens the brain.

Meditating from an early age gives you control over your mind and emotions and have positive thoughts. It is already proven in the science of Neuro-Plasticity.

B. Physical Strength

Physical strength isn’t just about having large muscles—it’s about having the stamina, endurance, and ability to protect yourself and those you love.

Benefits of physical strength:

  • Allows you to defend yourself in dangerous situations. Disciplines like karate, taekwondo, martial arts, and jujitsu are valuable skills.
  • Improves your endurance in challenging situations—for example, surviving longer without water in a desert.
  • Enhances problem-solving ability by keeping your body capable and ready for action.
  • Demonstrates that determination and training can overcome physical limitations—like Oscar Pistorius, the South African “Blade Runner,” who achieved global recognition despite his disability.

Key connection:
Mental and physical strength are deeply linked—when your mind is strong, your body follows.

WHEN YOUR MIND IS STRONG, Then YOUR BODY ALSO BECOMES STRONG.

C. Economical Strength

Economic strength refers to your financial stability, purchasing power, and ability to invest in health, education, and well-being. It’s not about being extremely wealthy—it’s about having enough to meet your needs, plan for the future, and help others.

Benefits of economic strength:

  • Ensures you can provide for your family’s needs and occasional luxuries.
  • Allows investment in health, education, and skill-building.
  • Enables you to save for the future, creating a safety net during hard times.
  • Gives you the capacity to contribute to charity, support the underprivileged, and invest in projects that uplift communities.

Key principle:
When you are financially secure, you can uplift others. Build your economic strength first, then extend that stability to those in need.

Strength—in mind, body, and resources—creates a foundation for resilience and growth. Each form supports the others, helping you face life’s challenges with courage and confidence.
