Four Pillars of life (Part 2)

Published by Nitin Bhatt on

The second pillar of life is KNOWLEDGE.

2. KNOWLEDGE – Information about how, why, where, when how often and what collectively would be called KNOWLEDGE. To have an understanding of how things work, why do they work like that, where etc. if, a person knows how things work, they could use that knowledge for themselves, for their family and for the whole society. There is no limitation of knowledge and scope of it. You can gain knowledge from anyone and anywhere.

To gain knowledge, you must have a hunger for it, a respectful mind to listen other person and respect their opinion/thoughts. If, you are pure, unbiased, far from anger and jealousy; you can change this knowledge to your success and wisdom.

Again Don’t confuse WISDOM with KNOWLEDGE.

A PERSON CAN BE KNOWLEDGEABLE BUT MIGHT LACKS WISDOM.

For example:

If a person knows how to grow crops, he/she can feed himself his family and can teach others about what he has learnt, which ultimately would make them capable of taking of themselves. That person would not have to be dependent on others for growing food.

Kids learning to sow seeds and how to take care of plants from an early age.

Some people are good at making friends and some are terrible in that. It all happens because of knowledge of how to read people, their likes, dislikes, their personality, their hobbies and what is the polite way to communication. People who have knowledge of these things would always impress other people and have great social circle.

Preparing food together with family and learning basics of cooking with family.
Learning skills to manage kitchen and on the way to be independent.
Cooking knowledge sharing with kids.

Some people are good at fixing broken things at home. No one is born with these skills, you have to learn it. This knowledge would make you independent in solving your home problems as well as a good resourceful person in the neighborhood.

Imagine a situation where a group of people are talking about universe and it secrets. If, you have knowledge of it, you can participate in that discussion and put forward your thoughts/ opinions on it. This would make you a healthy listener, analyzer, criticizer and social person.

Some people are great at cooking food, managing house, resolving family problems and showing empathy. Knowledge of how to cook, how to manage house, how to resolve family problem and what is nicest way of showing your empathy to another being would make positivity in your life, peace in your family, closeness with your friends and success in your family. The next generation would learn these skills and gain knowledge form you to carry it over to the coming generations.

Learning skill to keep you surrounding clean.
Learning to decorate house with art and craft by participating in it.

Knowledge of how the system works, how to choose things from variety of choices, how to make money, how to save money and then invest money, how relationship works. If, you have knowledge and skill in these topics can make you rich, bring harmony in your relationship, make you an expert in earning money, you can help others to choose careers and make money etc. It will help you as well as you family and society.

Learning art to use imagination and creativity to express themselves. Could build a career too.
Learning life skills and recreational skills

Some countries gain knowledge of nuclear energy and use it to defend themselves from their enemy as well as a source of clean energy. The right use of nuclear power would actually bring prosperity; and in wrong hands the same power could be used to threaten others and personal gains.

Application of knowledge across cultures—-

Some countries have history of thousand of years and some have history merely of few hundred years. But, in contrast, those with knowledge of thousand of years did not apply their knowledge to increase their strength and be prosperous; with time, they lost that KNOWLEDGE. Other countries with short history have done vast development and have used that knowledge to make them top developed countries.

The key lies in the application of knowledge gained & as well as sharing it, not just collecting it and storing it.

Some cultures have exploited their learnt knowledge and have travelled far to collect KNOWLEDGE from other cultures. They would build big-big libraries to store that knowledge and provide a chance to let others learn. Those cultures thrive a lot in terms of philosophy, scientific discoveries, spirituality, innovation and creativity.

SHARING IS CARING; it applies to knowledge too. You must share your knowledge with those whom you want to see succeed and be a part of a prosperous society.

Parents have responsibility to share their knowledge and experiences to their kids.
